Sebastian drove onto the driveway, killing the engine. It had been a rough day and it had taken every ounce of strength he had not to tell his boss to go fuck himself. He had been annoyed that Mister Summers had ordered him to come in on a Saturday, but this had been worse yet. He took a deep breath and rested his head against the headrest, his hands still firmly holding the steering wheel. It wasn't his fault that Collin had become irratic and his grades had dropped, it was his job as the boy's teacher to tell him focus and get better grades or he wouldn't be able to get into a University.

He didn't care that Collin was Mister Summers' nephew and he certainly didn't care that the headmaster thought him above such trivial things. Collin was risking an F in history, and since he wanted to study archaeology on University, that would be bad.

It had taken three hours to make Mister Summers see reason, but he had been called both idiot, faggot and other nasty words he didn't want to think about. But at least he still got a job, that was always something at least.

Sebastian sighed again, removed the key from the ignition, grabbed his bag and got out of the car. He glanced towards the house, noticing that it was dark everywhere apart from the livingroom. What was Gabriel up to?

He walked up to the front door, unlocked it and stepped inside. He was surprised to hear soft violin music coming from the living room and that Gabriel was rummaging around in the kitchen.

It smelled delicious and Sebastian wondered what the occasion he had missed, christmas was over as was new year. He glanced at his ringfinger as he removed his shoes and placed the bag by the door, and a soft smile spread across his lips. He still couldn't get over the fact that Gabriel had proposed to him on christmas eve, among all Sebastian's family. Even Colette, whom Susan had seen as part of the family almost as long as Gabriel and whom Gabriel told everything to, had been surprised.

Sebastian placed his jacket on the coathanger, "Honey," he called, "I'm home."

Gabriel's head appeared in the doorway, "Stay there!" he demanded before he disappeared for a few seconds. He then appeared in the doorway again, smiling wryly.

Sebastian was surprised to see him dressed in a suit, volontarily, and he arched an eyebrow in amusement.

"What's this?" he asked, but Gabriel just shook his head.

"Go to the bedroom," Gabriel ordered, firmly but softly, "there's a suit for you too."

"Why?" Sebastian asked, hoping to get some sort of hint, but yet again Gabriel just shook his head.

"Just go." he said with a chuckle before disappearing back into the kitchen.

Sebastian shook his head in amusment and went into the bedroom, changing into the black suit that Gabriel had put forth for him. He studied his mirror image and smiled wryly, enjoying what he saw.

He went back to the kitchen, but stopped outside the door, "I'm done." he called and waited for Gabriel to come back.

Gabriel studied him from head to toe and nodded approvingly, "I like it." he said, "Now, close your eyes."

"Gabriel." Sebastian sighed, "Can't you just tell me what's going on?"

"Close them." Gabriel demanded and for a brief second could Sebastian see his old self shine through. The old self that was demanding and arrogant. But Sebastian obliged.

He could feel Gabriel take hold of his arm and lead him into the kitchen and then into the living room. Gabriel helped him sit down on a chair by the dinnertable, then he leaned in and kissed his temple.

"You can open them now."

The surprise that took it's hold of Sebastian when he opened his eyes made his jaw drop. The table was set with their finest china, a white table cloth, lit candles and a bottle of expensive wine.

"Wait here!" Gabriel said then and disappeared back into the kitchen. A couple of minutes later he came back with two plates. He placed one in front of Sebastian and the other one opposite him and Gabriel then sat down. "I hope you like it."

Sebastian looked at the plate and realized that he was served his favorite dish. "I love it." he said and looked up at Gabriel, "So, what's this all about?"

Gabriel chuckled, "You really don't know?"

Sebastian shook his head, "No." he said, "I can't be a proposal, so I have no idea."

Gabriel smiled widely as he took the bottle of wine and poured a glass to Sebastian and then to himself. He placed the bottle back on the table, took the glass and raised it in a cheer.

"What if I say, happy birthday?" he asked and at once a light went on in Sebastian's head. He had forgotten his own birthday.

Sebastian took his glass and raised it as well, smiling softly. "Thank you, Gabriel."

"This is my way of saying sorry for not being home when you had to go to work this morning." Gabriel explained. "So I hope it'll make up for it."

"It does." Sebastian replied as he placed the glass back on the table and began eating. "Wow, this is delicious."

"Good." Gabriel chuckled as he took a sip of his wine and then placed the glass on the table, "I have been slaving in the kitchen all day."

Sebastian put away the cutlery and looked Gabriel straight in the eyes, "I love you, Gabriel. Thank you."

Gabriel blushed heavily and took a deep breath, "I love you too, Sebastian."

Sebastian smiled widely, knowing that no matter that kind of gift Gabriel had bought him, nothing could top this. Hearing his beloved finally say the three words after four years was the best birthday gift he could ever recieve.
I forgot Sebastian's birthday, so this is almost a month late.

Forgive me, Sebastian!
